From managing rentals in Palma to designing new ways of living

SOMOS Coliving was born as an initiative of the second generation of a family business with a long track record in Palma’s real estate sector. For years we have managed housing and residential rentals for people who live here, an essential part of our work and of the way we understand caring for spaces and for those who inhabit them.

Over time, and especially in recent years, we saw how the needs of many people arriving on the island were changing. The pandemic, the rise of remote work and an increasingly global mobility transformed the way people live: temporary stays, professional projects, transitions before a longer stay. And with that came a new question: where and how to live when you are starting over.

SOMOS Coliving grew out of that reflection, as a new line within our story. A proposal designed for those looking for temporary accommodation in Palma who do not want to settle for just a room, but who are looking for an environment that makes arriving easier and a community to feel supported by during that stage.

Architecture with purpose

At SOMOS Coliving we don’t adapt an existing building: we design and build each project from scratch, always with its final purpose as shared housing in mind, striking a real balance between privacy and community life.

Because of our commitment to sustainability, we chose to build consciously, following the Passivhaus standard. Its benefit is twofold: on the one hand, the wellbeing of those who will live here (thermal and acoustic comfort, and air quality); on the other, a lower environmental impact throughout the building’s operation, thanks to greater energy efficiency.

All of it with one aim: to show that design, comfort and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Community, beyond accommodation

SOMOS Coliving goes beyond renting out a space. We want to build a real community: a place where people feel at home from day one, supported through a period of transition or a temporary project on the island.

We design the experience so that living here is easy, enjoyable and shared, calmly, carefully and with intention.
